Registry-style ceremonies by civil celebrants, not a government registry office. No fuss, no frills, no wedding. Just paperwork.

How to Order Your Marriage Certificate in Queensland

If your marriage took place in Queensland, the official certificate is ordered through Births, Deaths and Marriages Queensland.

The basic process

  1. Wait until the marriage has been registered.
  2. Apply through Births, Deaths and Marriages Queensland.
  3. Pay the government fee.
  4. Receive the official certificate from them.

Good to know

  • The ceremonial certificate from the day is not the official certificate.
  • Government fees and processing times can change, so always check the official Queensland information.
  • If you need the certificate for overseas use, you may also need apostille or legalisation.
